  1. ELLEN DEGENERES HOSTS01:38:
Our host for the night Ellen Degeneres is dressed a little bit like something between Liberace and a barrister. She's missing the wig though and started off with a joke about the wet weather in Los Angeles.

The show has started. Backstage the press is all fed and watered.
Ellen Degeneres is making jokes about the recent rain in LA. I predict the show will have the same duration as The Wolf of Wall Street.
  3. IN PICTURES: OSCARS 2014 RED CARPET01:33:
American Hustle star and best supporting actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence laughed off a slip up on the red carpet, this time on her way in. Last year she famously tripped up the steps to the stage when collecting her best actress award for Silver Linings Playbook.

So they're all in now and we're moments away from the beginning of the 86th annual Academy Awards. Good luck everybody.
  5. SANDRA BULLOCK01:29:
Gravity's best actress nominee Sandra Bullock said working on the best picture nominated film changed her life. "I'm still problematic but I'm not as problematic as I used to be," she says. This is her second Oscar nomination, she won in 2010 for The Blind Side.

    A-LIST ACCESS01:06:
Samuel L Jackson shows you what kind of access an A-list invite gets you - he's only gone and managed to get a snap of the leather bag with all the winners names in there. Did he get a sneak peak?
He tweets: Where the Answers are!!! Ran into the PW guys backstage! http://campl.us/q0gV

  9. PHILOMENA'S PAPER BOY00:56:
Fun Oscars fact from 5live reporter Colin Paterson, who tweets: Sound Editing nominee for Gravity Glenn Freemantle used to be Philomena Lee's paperboy.
Her story has been adapted by Steve Coogan in the film Philomena - nominated for four Oscars.
  10. SALLY HAWKINS00:44:
South London's Sally Hawkins was looking glamorous in a Valentino dress as she arrived on the red carpet. She's up for best supporting actress for her role as Ginger, the sister of Cate Blanchett's down-on-her-luck Jasmine, in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.

"It's heavy but I love it," Blue Jasmine star and best actress nominee Cate Blanchett on her golden Giorgio Armani dress. She won a statue in 2005 for her role as Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator. This year is her fifth nomination and she's the bookies' favourite.

Chiwetel Ejiofor means business, he has shaved off the beard that graced his face at the Baftas.

The British best actor nominee for 12 Years a Slave said he was "stunned" by the final film - which is up for the coveted best picture.

On his way to the Oscars and looking typically dapper is Joseph Gordon Levitt. Wonder if he'll be supporting his Dark Knight Rises co-star Christian Bale, who is nominated for best actor for his role in the film American Hustle.
